Punishment for Criminal Intimidation by an Anonymous Communication
Ingredients of Offence:
All the ingredients required to constitute an offence under the preceding section with the addition that the offence committed was by an anonymous communication of threat sent by accused. The essential ingredients of the offence under Section 507 are as follows:
(1) The accused threatened someone with injury to his person, reputation or property, or to the person or reputation of any one in whom the former was interested;
(2) The accused did so with intent to cause alarm to the said person;
(3) The accused caused the victim to perform any act which he was not legally bound to do;
(4) The accused made the threat by anonymous communication sent to the victim of offence.
Non-cognizable, bailable, not compoundable and triable by a magistrate of the 1st class.
